Check whether the import was applied, and whether its Basics items were ticked. An import changes your profile only when you choose Apply to profile in its review, and only the items you leave ticked are saved. If the Basics tab is still empty, one of the causes below applies.

The review was not applied. After the upload, your file is read and turned into a review headed "Review your import", and nothing is written until you choose Apply to profile. If you closed the window but stayed on the page, open Import from résumé again: the review is still there, with your ticks. If you left the page or reloaded it, opening Import from résumé (or choosing Review it on the dashboard) shows "Import waiting for review"; choose Review, then apply.
The Basics items were left unticked. The review lists "Full name", "Current title" and "Location" under Basics, each with its own tick box. Anything you untick is not saved.
The review was discarded or expired. Discard deletes the review, and an unfinished review expires; the window tells you when. Either way nothing was applied, so upload your file again.
The file could not be read. When reading fails, nothing is saved, and the window says why, for example "Could not extract enough text. The file may be image-based or empty." Upload a PDF with selectable text, a .docx or a text file.
Your file had no name, title or location. The review proposes only what your file states. Type them on the Basics tab; your full name is required to publish.
Checking whether a review is still waiting. Open Import from résumé on the Basics tab. If it shows a review or the "Import waiting for review" screen, nothing from that upload has been applied yet. If it opens on the upload step, no review is waiting: it was applied, discarded or expired, or the file could not be read. Roles and skills already on your profile do not tell you which, because they may have been there before this upload. Uploading the file again proposes only what is not already on your profile; answer any "Same role, or a new one?" question carefully so that a role you already have is not added twice.
