First-week FAQ
- Is Free actually usable, or just a trial? Fully usable and permanent. The entire builder, publishing, your public profile, visitor AI chat, fit assessments, and the recruiter inbox are all on Free.
- Do hiring managers ever see my private context? No. Anything marked Private is never rendered publicly, and it is never given to the visitor chat at all. It feeds exactly one thing: your Honest Fit Assessment. See Privacy, data and account deletion.
- Why won’t the Publish button enable? One of the checks is unmet — most often the gap skill (you need at least one in the Skills "Gaps" column) or an elevator pitch under 100 characters. Open the publishing checklist; it names exactly what’s missing. One quirk: the "Conflicts & tensions" private field doesn’t count toward the experience-depth check — fill two other private fields on the role.
- The résumé import gave me fewer strong skills than I expected. That’s the extractor being deliberately careful — it won’t call a skill "strong" just because it appears on a list, and it leaves years blank rather than guess. Promote the skills you genuinely are strong in up to the Strong column; publishing needs at least three there.
- Can I change my profile URL? Yes — the Basics tab has a URL editor. Two things first: your URL updates itself to a name-based one when you first enter your full name, and after a manual change you’re locked for 30 days. Your old link redirects for 90 days after a change.
- I edited a field and it didn’t save. Saving is automatic and also fires
when you switch tabs or minimise the window — the only real edge is typing
and closing the browser tab within a second or two. Wait for the "Saved" pill.
If a social-link field shows "Save failed", the value genuinely didn’t
save: paste the full URL starting with
https://— and note the message can appear on a neighbouring link field, since the three links save together. - Can I build my profile by voice? On Pro, yes — voice interviews. On Free, build via résumé import and manual entry; voice sessions can’t be started on Free.
- What are the limits on my public profile’s AI? On Free, visitors get 20 chat messages per calendar month (resets on the 1st) and 10 fit assessments per rolling 30 days, counted across all visitors combined. Pro removes both caps. Trying the demo profiles doesn’t touch your quotas.
- How honest should my gaps really be? Genuinely honest. The product thesis is that depth and candour can’t be faked, and the AI is built not to flatter — an owned, explained gap reads as credible in exactly the places a hidden one reads as evasive.
- How do I get Pro without paying? Refer & Earn — available on every tier.
- What happens when my complimentary Pro ends? Your account reverts to Free. Your profile stays published and nothing is deleted — Pro features lock until you upgrade. Refer & Earn keeps working on Free.
- Can I remove the "Powered by Profiled" line? No — it appears on every profile, all tiers, as standard platform branding. It’s deliberately not a tier difference.
- Where do recruiter messages arrive? In the dashboard’s Messages from recruiters card, once your profile is published.
- Why doesn’t my profile say I’m open to work? The availability badge only renders if you’ve chosen an availability status — the builder doesn’t prompt for it. Set it in Basics → Targeting.
- I clicked Publish — did it work? On success you’ll see an inline banner — "Your profile is live" — with a View it link, and the status dot reads Published. If you don’t see the banner, check the publishing checklist for an unmet item.
Symptom → cause → fix
| Symptom | What’s happening | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Last edit lost after closing the tab | You closed within the ~1.5-second save window | Pause a moment, or watch for the "Saved" pill, before closing |
| "Save failed" stuck on a social-link field | The URL is malformed — and the error can show on a neighbouring link field | Paste the full address starting with https:// |
| Publish button disabled | A publish check is unmet | Open the publishing checklist; it names the item. Remember the gap-skill and pitch-length checks, and that "Conflicts & tensions" doesn’t count for experience depth |
| Duplicate roles and skills after importing again | Re-importing appends; it doesn’t merge | Remove the duplicates; next time untick sections you don’t want re-applied |
| A role shows today’s date, or "Unknown Company" | The extractor couldn’t read that value from the résumé | Correct it in the Experience tab |
| "New skill" text stuck in a skill name | The name field pre-fills with placeholder text | Select all and type over it |
| Page crashed while expanding/collapsing roles quickly | A known issue, now contained to an inline error card | Click Try again or reload — your data is intact |
| Preview shows "page not found" | Your profile is still a draft — the public page doesn’t exist until you publish | Publish first, then Preview |
| A long job title looks cut off | Display truncation only | The full value is saved and shown where space allows |
| A date reads as the wrong month | The date input uses your browser’s format; the card header shows month-day style | Re-open the entry and confirm the stored date |
| A visitor says the chat "quota has been reached" | Free profiles carry 20 visitor messages per calendar month | It resets on the 1st; Pro removes the cap |
| A visitor says the fit-assessment limit was reached | Free profiles carry 10 per rolling 30 days | Assessments age out of the window continuously — it’s not a calendar reset. Pro removes the cap |
| The fit assessment says it "couldn’t be completed safely" | A privacy-safety guard on our side that sometimes over-triggers — a known issue being improved, and not a reflection of the candidate | Retrying the same job description rarely changes the outcome; a differently-worded one may work. Contact support if you need that assessment |
| Referral reward sitting in "Held" | Rewards earned while your account is under 7 days old wait for human review | It clears after review; contact support if it lingers well past your first week |
| A reward claim failed | Failed claims don’t retry automatically | Adjust and claim again, or contact support — nothing was deducted |
| Voice: "Could not access your microphone" | Browser mic permission denied | Allow mic access in browser settings, rerun the mic test |
