Thanks for taking a place in the closed beta. This is a small group, so your feedback is not a drop in a bucket…it is the bucket.
This should take about 45–60 minutes, and it does not have to be in one sitting. Please work through it in this order. The order matters: it is the path we think is fastest to a profile worth showing, and if it turns out not to be, that is one of the most useful things you can tell us.
Keep a note open as you go. Where a step says Tell us, jot a line. Rough is fine.
Your journey. Your dashboard shows a "Your journey" card that ticks off steps as you use Profiled, and most of the steps in this guide are on it. Reaching certain points adds extra Pro time to your account. How it works is explained here: https://profiled.careers/limits#journey
Step 1: Accept your invite and get in
Your invite email has a single link. Signing up any other way will not work during the beta – the public sign-up page is closed on purpose.
Done when: you are looking at your dashboard.
Tell us: anything in the invite email that was unclear or that you nearly ignored.
Guide: How do I accept my invite and create my account?
Step 2: Import your résumé or profile document first
Do this before you explore anything else, even if your résumé is out of date. Your dashboard opens with Profile Setup: click Upload a résumé or profile document, then review what was read and click Apply to profile. It is much faster than typing, and a half-right profile is far easier to correct than an empty one is to fill. No résumé to hand? Open Profile and use Fill it with help instead.
Done when: your experience and skills are populated, right or wrong.
Tell us: how long it took, and roughly what fraction it got right.
Guides: Should I import my résumé or build by hand? · Importing a résumé or profile document · The import created too many or wrong skills
Step 3: Correct what the review missed
Expect to fix things. The review lets you untick anything before it is applied, but it will not catch everything. Delete skills you would not defend in an interview, fix titles and dates, and cut anything that reads like résumé filler.
Done when: nothing on your profile makes you wince.
Tell us: the single worst thing the import did. We would rather have one specific example than a general impression.
Step 4: Add the private context (this is the part that matters)
This is what makes Profiled different, and it is the step most people will be tempted to skip. Alongside each role there are private fields: why you really left, what you would do differently, where you struggled, what you are still not good at.
Visitors never see these. They are not on your public page. They inform your Honest Fit Assessment, and the profile assistant reads them while it helps you write them; the visitor chat never receives them. That is why a profile with real substance behind it holds up when a hiring manager runs a fit assessment, and a padded one does not.
Be candid. If you find yourself writing the polished interview answer, that is the moment to write the true one instead.
Done when: at least two roles have real private context, including at least one genuine weakness or gap.
Tell us: 🔴 was there anything you decided not to write down? What, and why? This is the single most valuable answer in the whole checklist. Please don’t skip it, and please don’t be polite about it.
Guides: What do the private Experience fields do, and who sees them? · Is my private context ever shown to recruiters or visitors? · How honest should I be about gaps?
Step 5: Publish
You may find the Publish button disabled until the profile has enough depth. That is deliberate, not a bug, but if you cannot work out what is missing, that is a bug in our copy and we want to hear about it.
Done when: your public profile URL loads in a browser.
Tell us: if Publish was blocked, could you tell what to do about it without asking anyone?
Guides: Why won’t the Publish button enable? · How does the quality score work?
Step 6: Interrogate your own profile
Open your public URL in a private window, so you see exactly what a hiring manager sees, and use the chat. Do not lob it easy questions. Ask the ones you would dread in an interview: "Why did they leave that job after eight months?" · "Are they actually any good at X?"
Done when: you have asked at least five real questions, including two hostile ones.
Tell us: did it ever say something wrong about you? Did it ever say something true but private that you did not expect a visitor to see? Both matter; the second one matters urgently, so tell us the same day.
Also notice: when the page first appears, does everything respond straight away? If a button or the chat box ever looked ready but did nothing when you tapped or clicked it, tell us roughly how long it lasted, and whether you were on a phone or a computer.
Guide: What does the AI chat on my public profile know about me?
Step 7: Run a fit assessment against a real job ad
Find a real advertised job, ideally one you have a genuine opinion about, including one you suspect you are not right for. Paste it in.
You will get one of three verdicts: Strong fit, Worth a conversation, or Probably not your person.
We have deliberately built this to tell the truth rather than to flatter you. So the question we need answered is not whether you liked the verdict.
Done when: you have run at least two assessments: one job you think you fit, one you think you do not.
Tell us: 🔴 did the verdict match your own honest judgment? If it was too generous, say so. A tool that tells everyone they are a strong fit is worthless, and you are better placed than we are to catch it doing that.
Guides: How does the fit assessment work? · What do the fit verdict terms actually mean?
Step 8: Voice practice (Pro; optional – experimental)
⚠️ The app labels practice "Experimental." In its words: "Practice interviews are new. The interviewer and the debrief are AI-generated, so treat the feedback as a rehearsal aid, not an assessment." We are including it because your feedback is more useful now than after we have polished it, but please treat it as an experiment. If it frustrates you, stop. This is a result, not a failure, and it will not affect anything else on your profile.
There are three ways to practice: "A 5-minute drill", "One interview stage", or "For a role I’m applying for", which works from one of your fit checks. Run a check in Check a Job Fit on your dashboard, and the button under the result starts it. Voice practice is part of Pro: on Free, that button’s place shows "Practice for this role is included in Pro" with See Pro.
Done when: you have either completed one short practice session, or decided not to.
Tell us: if you stopped, exactly where.
Guides: Voice interviews and practice · Practice for this role · How long are voice transcripts kept, and can I delete them?
Step 9: Tell us
Send your notes however suits you: reply to any of our emails, or use the support form.
Three things are worth more to us than everything else combined:
- Where you nearly gave up. The exact screen, and what you expected to happen.
- Anything the AI got wrong about you, and anything private that surfaced where it should not have.
- Whether the fit verdicts were honest, including when that was uncomfortable.
If something is broken, say so plainly. We would much rather ship this to the world having heard it from you first.
If something goes wrong
Start with Troubleshooting and first-week FAQ, and if that does not cover it, tell us. We reply within 1–2 business days, and during the beta usually much faster.
