What this screen is
Opportunities is a hand-curated list of jobs, fellowships and programs, published by the Profiled team. It is deliberately not a scraped job board — listings are curated, and the list is small on purpose.
Its heading reads "Find your next role", and the line underneath says: "Hand-curated jobs, fellowships, and programs. Use the filters to narrow down by type or remote-friendliness, or search the title / organization / description."

Three things to know before you start:
- It is not a dashboard screen. "Opportunities" in your sidebar opens
profiled.careers/opportunities, a page with no sidebar. Use your browser’s back button to return to the dashboard. - Browsing is open on every plan. Applying and flagging are Pro actions. Pro you were given, or earned through referrals, counts the same as Pro you pay for.
- It has to be switched on. Whether you can see the board at all is a separate question from your plan. The next section explains both.
Listings today are added by the Profiled team. Profiled is also built so that recruiter accounts can post listings to the same board, and recruiter accounts are not open during the beta.
Two gates: seeing the board, and applying
Two separate things decide what you can do here. Mixing them up is the most common misunderstanding.
| Gate | What it controls | Who passes | If you do not pass |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seeing the board | Whether Opportunities exists for you at all | The board is switched on by the Profiled team, and, while it is being rolled out to a limited group, it is also switched on for your account | No "Opportunities" item in your sidebar. The address, and every listing address, shows a "page not found" page |
| Applying and flagging | Whether you can open the original listing or report a problem with it | Pro | You can read every listing in full, and the button reads "Upgrade to Pro to apply". No flag control is shown |
While the board is in a limited rollout, most accounts do not see the menu item. If it is missing from your sidebar, nothing is broken. There is no "upgrade" or "coming soon" page in its place: a board that is not switched on for you looks the same as a page that does not exist.
During a limited rollout the board also shows "page not found" to anyone who is signed out, because there is no account to check. Once the board is open to everyone, the list is genuinely public — it’s also readable at profiled.careers/opportunities without signing in, so you can share a listing with someone who doesn’t have an account.
Having the board switched on for your account does not make you able to apply. On Free you can read every listing, with its title, organization, full description, location and compensation. Opening the original listing is the Pro part. For what Pro costs, see pricing.
Your User Dashboard at a glance explains why your menu might not match someone else’s.
Browsing (every tier)
Open Opportunities from the sidebar. You can filter by type, limit to remote-only, and search across titles, organizations and descriptions. Click any listing to read the full details.

The search box
The placeholder reads "Search title, organization, description…". The list filters as you type, after a short pause. There is no search button.
A term of three characters or more is matched against the title, the organization and the description. A term of one or two characters is matched against titles only. Punctuation such as commas, periods and parentheses is ignored, and a term is cut off at 100 characters.
Because the search reads descriptions, it finds more than a title search would. Searching for "experimentation" returns roles whose title says "Product Manager" when their description contains that word. The search looks for the wording you typed, not for related terms, and a broad term returns a broad list.
Type filters
A row of pills: "All types", then seven types.
| Type | What it covers |
|---|---|
| job | Conventional employment |
| fellowship | Funded, time-bounded programs, often research or public-interest |
| program | Accelerators, cohorts, structured training |
| gig | Short, discrete pieces of paid work |
| internship | Early-career placements |
| freelance | Ongoing contract work |
| other | Anything that does not fit the six above |
You can select one type at a time. Clicking "fellowship" replaces "job"; it does not add to it. To see two types, stay on "All types" and read the type tag on each card.
Remote OK
A separate pill under the type row. Off, it shows everything. On, it shows only remote-friendly listings and the pill reads "✓ Remote OK". It combines with the search and the type filter.
When nothing matches
The list is replaced by: "No opportunities match your filters. Try widening the search or removing a type filter."
On a small, curated list, an empty result usually comes from the filters. Clear the type pill first, then shorten the search term.
Listings are shown newest first, 25 at a time. "Load more" at the bottom opens the next 25 and keeps your filters. It replaces the list instead of adding to it, so use your browser’s back button to return to the listings you have already seen. There are no page numbers. Changing a filter or the search term takes you back to the first 25.
The opportunity cards
| Element | Where | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Title | Top left | The role or program |
| Organization | Beside the title | Left out if the listing names none |
| Type tag | Top right | One of the seven types |
| Description | Middle | The first two lines |
| Location | Bottom row | Left out if the listing gives none |
| "Remote OK" | Bottom row | Only on remote-friendly listings |
| Compensation | Bottom row | Left out if the listing states none |
A missing compensation figure means the listing did not state one. The same goes for location and organization. The whole card is a link to the full listing.
The listing page

From top to bottom: a "← All opportunities" link back to the list; a row with the type, "Remote OK", the location and the compensation, each shown only when the listing has it; the title; the organization; the full description with its original line breaks; then the apply button and, on Pro, the flag control.
Applying (Pro)
Each listing has an apply action that takes you to the organization’s own application destination. On Free, choosing it shows you the upgrade path instead — browsing and reading listings stays open.
The button has three states:
| Who you are | Button | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Pro (paid, complimentary or earned) | "Apply / view source" | Profiled records the click and sends you to the original listing |
| Signed in on any other plan | "Upgrade to Pro to apply" | Opens Settings in your dashboard, where the plan options are |
| Signed out | "Sign in to apply" | Takes you to sign-in, then back to the same listing. You only meet this state once the board is open to everyone |
"Apply / view source" does not submit an application. Profiled does not apply for you and does not attach your profile.
Applying happens on the organization’s side, not inside Profiled — a strong move is to include your public profile link (profiled.careers/your-name) in the application, so the hiring manager can interrogate your fit directly. Publish your profile first, so the link leads somewhere.
Listings can go stale. The roles live on other organizations’ sites, and a role can be filled without the listing here being updated. If the destination is gone or says the role is closed, flag the listing.
How do I apply to an opportunity? has the short version of this section.
Flagging (Pro)
If a listing looks wrong — expired, misleading, or not what it claims — flag it. Flags go to the team that curates the list. You can flag up to 10 listings a day.
On Pro, a "Flag this listing" link sits beside the apply button. On any other plan there is no flag control. A signed-out visitor sees "Sign in to flag".
Clicking "Flag this listing" opens a small form headed "Flag reason", with a reason menu, a detail box, "Cancel" and "Submit flag".

The reasons
| Reason | Use it when |
|---|---|
| "Expired or filled" | The role is gone. This is the reason selected when the form opens |
| "Spam" | The listing is an ad, a scam, or not a real opportunity |
| "Misleading or inaccurate" | The details here do not match the original: wrong compensation, location or seniority |
| "Duplicate listing" | The same role appears twice |
| "Offensive content" | Discriminatory or inappropriate material |
| "Broken link" | "Apply / view source" leads nowhere |
| "Other (please describe)" | Anything else. The detail box becomes required |
The detail box
The box holds up to 1,000 characters. Its placeholder is "Optional context" for the first six reasons and "Required: tell us what’s wrong" when you choose "Other (please describe)".
Tip: add a line of detail even when it is optional. "Listing says hybrid in London, the original says onsite in Zurich" can be fixed on the first read. A bare "Misleading or inaccurate" has to be investigated from the start.
Messages you might get back
When a flag is saved, the form is replaced by "Thanks — we’ll review your flag shortly." Otherwise one of these appears in the form:
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| "You’ve flagged a lot today. Try again tomorrow or contact support." | You have reached the daily limit. If you have more to report, use the support form |
| "You flagged this listing before and the team reviewed it. You can flag it again later." | Your earlier flag on this listing was reviewed and the listing was kept. The new flag was not saved. You can flag it again after a waiting period |
| "You’ve already flagged this listing — the team has it." | Your earlier flag is still waiting for review. Nothing more to do |
| "Please add a short note explaining the problem." | You chose "Other (please describe)" and left the detail box empty |
| "Please choose a reason and try again." | The form was sent without a valid reason. Pick one and submit again |
| "Flagging listings is available on Pro." | Your account is no longer on Pro, for example because a granted plan ended while the page was open |
| "Please sign in to flag a listing." | You were signed out while the form was open. Sign in and submit again |
| "This listing is no longer available." | The listing was removed while you had it open |
| "Something went wrong and the flag wasn’t saved. Please try again." | An error on Profiled’s side. Try once more, then use the support form |
No automatic check tests whether a role is still open, so an "Expired or filled" flag is often how the team finds out. What does flagging an opportunity do? covers what happens after you submit.
Common questions
- Why can’t I see Opportunities in my sidebar? The board is not switched on for your account yet. It appears on its own when that changes, and signing out and back in does not change it. It is also shown only on candidate accounts.
- Does applying through Profiled do anything special? The apply action is a hand-off to the organization’s own process. What Profiled adds is your profile: a link a hiring manager can question is stronger than an attachment they can only read.
- I applied — where do I track it? With the organization. Profiled doesn’t currently track application status.
- Does this screen add to my quality score? No. Nothing you do on Opportunities changes your profile.
Finishing
- You know that a missing menu item or a "page not found" page means the board is not switched on for you, not that something is broken
- Your profile is published before you apply to anything
- You read "All types" at least once before filtering
- You turned on "Remote OK" if location matters to you
- You know that "Apply / view source" takes you to the organization’s own listing and submits nothing
- You put your profile link in every application you sent
- You flagged anything expired or broken, with a line of detail
