No. Treat "Save failed" as a genuine failure — the value did not save. The cause is almost always an address that is still malformed, for example one with a space in the site name. You do not need to type https://; it is added for you when the field saves. Reloading will not recover it, and the edit has to be re-entered correctly.
Detail
"Save failed" is not cosmetic. Until the error clears, the stored links are the ones from your last successful save, so do not assume "it probably saved".
The cause. The three link fields — LinkedIn, GitHub, website — need a web address. A bare domain such as linkedin.com/in/your-name is fine: https:// is added when the field saves. What fails is a value that is still not a valid address after that, such as:
- a space inside the site name, like
linkedin .com/in/your-name - text that is not an address at all, like
my linkedin - a link that is not a web page, like one starting
ftp:// - more than 500 characters
The fix. Open the field and retype or paste the full address with no spaces in the site name. Copying it from your browser’s address bar while you are on the page is the surest way.
A handle saves, but does not work. @your-handle on its own does not show "Save failed", but it is stored as a link to a site that does not exist. Enter the whole profile address instead: github.com/your-handle rather than @your-handle.
One thing that makes this confusing: the three links save together, so the error message can appear on a neighboring link field rather than the one you actually broke. If LinkedIn shows the error but looks correct, check GitHub and your website field too — the malformed one may be either of those.
Confirming it worked. Once the address is valid, the error clears and the "Saved" pill appears. Your links render as chips on your public profile, so open "Preview" (or "View your profile" once you are published) and click each chip to check where it goes.
