Getting started with Profiled in 10 minutes

Applies to: Free and Pro · Last updated: 2026-08-18

Profiled is the anti-ATS. (An ATS, or applicant tracking system, is the software most companies use to screen and filter résumés before a human reads them.) Instead of sending your résumé into an applicant-tracking black hole, you build one rich profile — and hiring managers come to investigate you. They can ask your profile’s AI questions about you, or paste a job description and get an honest fit verdict: "strong fit," "worth a conversation," or "probably not your person." The AI is deliberately built not to flatter. It names your gaps out loud, because a profile that admits real gaps reads as credible rather than curated.

This guide takes you from your invite email to your first look around. Building and publishing your profile has its own guide: Building your profile.

Step 1 — Accept your invite

Profiled is invite-only during the beta. Your access starts from an email.

  • Find the invite. Check your inbox (and spam) for an email from Profiled. If a personal welcome email arrived separately with a backup link, either link works.
  • The invite link is valid for 14 days. The email itself states this. If it has lapsed, ask whoever invited you to resend it.
  • If your invite includes a complimentary Pro period, the invite email states how long it lasts.

Click the button to open the sign-up screen.

  • Your email is pre-filled and locked to the invited address.
  • Set a password (or use a passkey if offered). There is no public sign-up and no third-party login buttons — only invited emails can create an account during the beta.
  • Submit to create your account and land on your dashboard.

Step 2 — A short dashboard tour

What you’ll see:

  • Welcome header — your name and your profile status. While your profile is empty the guidance line reads: "Start with the basics — name, title, and what you’re looking for." It changes as your profile deepens.
  • Profile completeness card — your build options (below), and later your quality score.
  • Messages from recruiters card — your inbox. Recruiters can reach out through Profiled once your profile is published.
  • On Free, an upgrade banner for Pro. You can ignore it — everything in the getting-started and profile-building guides works on Free.

The sidebar

  • Dashboard — this home screen.
  • Profile — the builder, where you’ll spend most of your time.
  • Practice — AI practice interviews (Pro).
  • AI Activity — a transparency log of every question visitors have asked your profile’s AI and every fit assessment run against it. Available on every tier.
  • Insights — patterns across that activity, with an AI read on what to improve (Pro; the link is visible on Free with an upgrade prompt).
  • Opportunities — a hand-curated list of roles, fellowships and programs. Anyone can browse; applying is a Pro action.
  • Refer & Earn — invite people who’d use Profiled and earn months of Pro. Available on every tier.
  • Gift Pro — invite people you know to Profiled (Pro only).
  • Preview — opens your public page. Use it after you publish; on a draft profile the public page isn’t live yet, so the link shows "page not found" until you publish.
  • Settings — plan, billing, and your data (export and deletion live here).
  • A footer group — Onboarding & Training, Get Help, Feedback, Share Your Story.

Step 3 — Choose how to build

The completeness card offers ways in. You can mix them — import a résumé to seed the basics, then add depth by hand.

Recommended: import your résumé first, then work tab by tab to add the private depth that makes your profile’s answers specific and credible. The Building your profile guide walks the whole path, including what to have ready and how long each part takes.

What to have ready

  • A résumé as PDF or DOCX, up to 10 MB. Writing in Google Docs? Use File → Download → Microsoft Word (.docx). Optional, but it pre-fills your basics and seeds your experience and skills in about 30 seconds.
  • A profile photo if you’d like one — it appears at the top of your public profile.
  • Around 30–45 minutes for a first working profile. You can split it across sittings — your work saves as you go.

The honesty principle, up front

Profiled rewards candour. The forms ask for honest, private reflection — why you left a role, what you’d do differently, where you have gaps. Publishing your gaps is a requirement, not a confession: the publish checks won’t let you go live without acknowledging at least one genuine gap, because a profile with no admitted weaknesses reads as inexperienced or dishonest — and the AI can’t be honest about gaps it doesn’t know about.

Anything marked Private in the builder is never shown to visitors and is never given to the visitor chat at all. Private context feeds exactly one thing: your Honest Fit Assessment. The Privacy, data and account deletion guide covers this in full.
