First-week FAQ

  1. Is Free actually usable, or just a trial? Fully usable and permanent. The entire builder, publishing, your public profile, visitor AI chat, fit assessments, and the recruiter inbox are all on Free.
  2. Do hiring managers ever see my private context? No. Anything marked Private is never rendered publicly, and it is never given to the visitor chat at all. Your private context is used by the Honest Fit Assessment; the profile assistant also reads it while it helps you write it, and shows it only to you. Recruiters never see it. See Privacy, data and account deletion.
  3. Why won’t the Publish button enable? One of the checks is unmet — most often the still-developing skill (you need at least one skill marked "Still developing" on the Skills tab) or an elevator pitch under 100 characters. Open the publishing checklist; it names exactly what’s missing. Why won’t the Publish button enable? lists every check and its message.
  4. The résumé import gave me fewer strong skills than I expected. That’s the import being deliberately careful: it uses a level your file states, and otherwise proposes "Strong" only where your file shows real depth, so a skill your file only lists usually arrives as "Moderate", and one you are still learning as "Still developing". Promote the skills you genuinely are strong in up to the Strong column; publishing needs at least three there. If the import filed a skill in the wrong column, see The résumé import created too many or wrong skills.
  5. Can I change my profile URL? Yes — the Basics tab has a URL editor. Two things first: your URL updates itself to a name-based one when you first enter your full name, and after a manual change you’re locked for 30 days. Your old link redirects for 90 days after a change. Why doesn’t my profile URL match my name, and can I change it? has the rules.
  6. I edited a field and it didn’t save. Saving is automatic. On the Basics and Narrative tabs and on Skills cards, a field saves about a second and a half after you stop typing, when you leave it, and when you switch tabs or minimize the window. On the other tabs, a text field saves only when you click or tab out of it. Wait for the "Saved" pill. If a social-link field shows "Save failed", the value genuinely didn’t save: the address is malformed, so retype the full address (https:// is added for you if you leave it off) — and note the message can appear on a neighboring link field, since the three links save together.
  7. Can I build my profile by voice? On Pro, yes: open the Profile Setup panel on your dashboard and choose "Talk it out (experimental)" (see Profile Setup: the dashboard panel that gets you to publish). You can also build it by uploading a résumé or profile document, with the profile assistant (the "Fill it with help" or "Continue with help" button on the Profile page), or by hand. Practicing for interviews by voice is a separate Pro feature: see voice interviews.
  8. What are the limits on my public profile’s AI? On Free, visitors share a monthly allowance of chat messages (resets on the 1st) and a rolling allowance of fit assessments, counted across all visitors combined; the current numbers are on the limits page. Pro removes both caps. Trying the demo profiles doesn’t touch your quotas.
  9. How honest should my gaps really be? Genuinely honest. The product thesis is that depth and candor can’t be faked, and the AI is built not to flatter — an owned, explained gap reads as credible in exactly the places a hidden one reads as evasive.
  10. How do I get Pro without paying? Refer & Earn — available on every tier.
  11. What happens when my complimentary Pro ends? Your account reverts to Free. Your profile stays published and nothing is deleted — Pro features lock until you upgrade. Refer & Earn keeps working on Free.
  12. Can I remove the "Powered by Profiled" line? No — it appears on every profile, all tiers, as standard platform branding. It’s deliberately not a tier difference.
  13. Where do recruiter messages arrive? In the dashboard’s Messages from recruiters card, once your profile is published. Recruiter accounts are not open during the beta.
  14. Why doesn’t my profile say I’m open to work? The "open to work" wording comes only from an availability status, and the builder doesn’t prompt for it. Set it in Basics → Targeting. The status badge itself appears when you have set an availability status, a remote preference, or both.
  15. I clicked Publish — did it work? On success you’ll see an inline banner — "Your profile is live" — with a View it link, and the status dot reads Published. If you don’t see the banner, check the publishing checklist for an unmet item. I clicked Publish and nothing seemed to happen — is my profile live? covers the other signs.
  16. How do I share my profile with a recruiter? Copy your public address from the "Public profile URL" card on the Basics tab of the Profile Builder and send it, or paste it into your application. It works once your profile is published. How do I share my profile link? has the details.

Last edit lost after closing the tabOn Basics, Narrative and Skills you closed within the ~1.5-second save window; on the other tabs a text field saves only when you click or tab out of itClick an empty part of the page after your last edit and watch for the "Saved" pill before closing. See My last edit disappeared after I closed the tab.
"Save failed" stuck on a social-link fieldThe address is malformed, for example there is a space in the site name — and the error can show on a neighboring link fieldCheck all three link fields and retype the full address; https:// is added for you if you leave it off. See The LinkedIn field shows "Save failed" — did my edit save?
"Save failed" on any other fieldThe save did not completeYour text is still in the box. Open the page in another browser tab to check what was stored before you retype anything
Publish button disabledA publish check is unmetOpen the publishing checklist; it names the item. Remember the still-developing skill and pitch-length checks. See Why won’t the Publish button enable?
Clicked Publish and nothing seemed to happenEither the publish went through and you missed the banner, or a check is unmetLook at the status dot: it reads Published once the publish went through. If it reads Published but your public address still shows "page not found", your profile is published but not public; contact support. See I clicked Publish and nothing seemed to happen — is my profile live?
The résumé import put skills in the wrong columnEach new skill you kept went into the column of the level the review proposed; without a stated level, a skill your file only lists usually arrives as "Moderate"Change each card’s Category on the Skills tab, and mark one honest skill "Still developing". See The résumé import created too many or wrong skills
The Basics tab is empty after an importThe review was not applied, its Basics items were left unticked, it was discarded or expired, or the file could not be readOpen Import from résumé to finish a waiting review, or upload the file again. See The Basics tab looked empty right after my résumé import.
A duplicate role or skill after importing again"Add as a new role" was chosen for a role already on your profile, or your file names a company or a skill differently from your profile. Skills are compared by nameDelete the extra entry. Next time, choose "Same role as" for a role you already have, and check differently named skills in the review
A role from your file is not on your profile after an importIt was left unticked, it was matched to a role you already have, or it had no start date, company or title and matched none of your roles, so the review listed it under "Add these roles by hand"If it was matched, check that existing role, which may already hold its bullets. If it was left unticked, reopen the waiting review or upload the file again and tick it. If it was listed to add by hand, add it on the Experience tab, or fill in the missing details in your file and upload it again
"New skill", "New experience" or "New gap or weakness" text in an older entryEntries added before October 7, 2026 were created with that text filled in. New entries open empty, with a gray hintSelect the text and type over it. Until you do, the entry stays a draft and is hidden from your public profile
Page crashed while expanding/collapsing roles quicklyA known issue, now contained to an inline error cardClick Try again or reload — your data is intact
Your public address shows "page not found"Your profile is still a draft — the public page doesn’t exist until you publish. Rarely, a published profile is set to privatePublish first. Until then, Preview in the sidebar opens a draft preview that only you can see. If the builder already reads Published, contact support. See Preview / View your profile: your profile as a visitor sees it
"Preview" in the sidebar is grayed outYour profile has not been created yetOpen the Dashboard home screen once; that creates your profile and "Preview" becomes a working link

A visitor says the chat "quota has been reached"Free profiles carry a monthly visitor-message allowance (see limits)It resets on the 1st; Pro removes the cap
A visitor says the fit-assessment limit was reachedFree profiles carry a rolling fit-assessment allowance (see limits)Assessments age out of the window continuously — it’s not a calendar reset. Pro removes the cap
The fit assessment says "We couldn’t produce this assessment" (earlier wording: it "couldn’t be completed safely")The assessment was not shown because it could not be shown with Profiled’s privacy guarantee. It happens rarely, and it is not a reflection of the candidateRetrying the same job description rarely changes the outcome; a differently-worded one may work. Contact support if you need that assessment. See The fit assessment said "We couldn’t produce this assessment" — what does that mean, and should I retry?
Referral reward sitting in "Held"Rewards earned in your first 7 days are Held and released automatically once your account is 7 days old. A reward held for any other reason waits for a review by the Profiled teamNothing to do in your first week. If a reward is still Held more than a day after your account turns 7 days old, contact support. See My referral reward is stuck in Pending or Held
A reward claim failed, or seemed to hangEither the claim was refused, or it was interrupted before its confirmation arrivedIf you saw a failure message, nothing was deducted: adjust the number of months and try again. If the claim seemed to hang, Profiled finishes or reverses interrupted claims automatically; check Refer & Earn and, if you chose to pay, your bank statement, and if it is still unresolved after a day, contact support
